WORDEN’S WINE & BEER SPECIAL, MARCH 12, 2010
2007 Thierry et Pascale Matrot Bourgogne Blanc, France
Reg. $19.95, Worden`s Now $15.99 or $14.39 by the box (12); Save up to $66.72 per case!

A lovely straw-gold in the glass, the Bourgogne Chardonnay explodes with aromas of buttery lemon curd and dissolved limestone minerals. On the palate the wine is brisk, combining bracing acidity and a lashing of dissolved minerality with laser-like precision and deft balance. The faintest hints of vanilla bean and caramel sneak in as the wine transitions to its long lemon and mineral finish. This is a superb full-bodied white Burgundy that will work well with broiled halibut, roasted chicken or pork loin.
The estate is located in Meursault, and there are over 5 hectares of Meursault villages classified vines, the estates largest holding. There are parcels in Saint Romain, Auxey-Duresses, and in several red wine spots, but the most important Thierry et Pascale Matrot wines come from small parcels in some big-shot Meursault and Puligny 1er Cru vineyards, including Meursault Perrières, Charmes, and Chevalières, and Puligny Les Garennes.

The Bourgogne Blanc comes from vines that average 30 years old right outside of Meursault. It is always a good wine and a good value, but the 2007 is particularly exellent.
Two Euro wines (both avoid oak aging) set benchmarks for their types

"Doppel" means double and this beer is double in every way. Bayern Doppelbock became an instant legend when Bayern introduced it in Missoula in December of 1987. Unlike its top-fermenting counterparts, this hearty German dark lager does not have the rough bite of a porter or a stout.

Bayern Doppelbock is dark, smooth and has plenty of hops (Saaz & Hallertauer Perle) and malt. It has a starting gravity of >18 degrees Plato (7.8 - 8.4% ABV). Bayern Doppelbock is available in bottles and on draft from November through February, just in time for the holidays and the coldest months. Please enjoy this festive beer in moderation and leave your car at home if you are planning to celebrate with Doppelbock.

Our March 3-pack special fits that bill and we promise they will bring a warmer feeling to you. The three wines offered are Italian reds with big bold flavors that open up on the palate and provide flavors and aromas that are referenced in the comfort foods we seek during this time of year; mushrooms, ripe cheeses, dried herbs, rich sauces, dried fruits and exotic spices.
These wines also pair well after all day skiing excursions, winter hikes, shopping expeditions and dips in the hot tub.

Download the 3-pack newsletter for tasting notes, pairings and more. March3pack.pdf

The March Italian Stallion 3-pack special is on special for $49.99 (reg. $63.97). That is a savings of almost $14
