Forgeron "Anvil" Cabernet Sauvignon
97 points from The Wine Advocate!
This Cabernet Sauvignon is made with fruit from the Klipsun vineyard on Red Mountain, some of the finest terroir in Washington for this grape. The miniscule production, only 100 cases, combined with the very reasonable price and a 97 point review in the Wine Advocate make it clear this will be a one shot deal. With that kind of critical acclaim there are only a couple possibilities for future vintages: a massive price hike, availability only to the wineries most loyal mailing list customers, or both. We snatched up all we could, which unfortunately was not very much, and suggest you do the same as this will be the best value in world class, cellar-worthy Cabernet you will see in the foreseeable future.
From the Wine Advocate 94-97 points: "One of the finest Cabernets I have tasted from Washington (albeit from a barrel sample) is the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Klipsun Vineyard, sourced from a highly regarded terroir planted in 1984. There are only four barrels (less than 100 cases) of this dense, exceptionally concentrated, beautifully proportioned Cabernet. Medium to full-bodied (14.6% alcohol) with a sense of elegance, it will reward 6-8 years of cellaring and will offer a drinking window extending from 2017 to 2028+ upon release."
