Zinfandel grapes are unique to the United States. Although a version of the grape originated centuries ago in what is now Croatia, today those grapes are only grown in the United States and primarily in California. However, recent DNA tests indicate that Zinfandel is actually the same as the Primitivo grape found in Italy.

Today, California has some 50,000 acres of Zinfandel vines. Zinfandel is loved for its gutsy and energetic profile, as well as its versatility in food pairing. Pair these wines with your Easter Lamb (smothered in rosemary and garlic) or really anything from the grill –which is just in time for spring and outdoor parties.
